“Guggenheim stood out as the best place to begin an investment banking career.”
Jacob, Analyst, discusses his career path to Guggenheim and involvement in the LGBTQ+ community.I am an Analyst in the Power, Utilities & Renewables group of the Investment Banking division. My role on the team involves supporting mid-level and senior bankers execute mandated processes and pitches for new clients. One week I can be working on a project model, and the next week I’m conducting industry research and preparing marketing materials.
I joined Guggenheim after graduating from Georgetown University in 2021. Going to school in Washington DC, I was intrigued by career opportunities that would combine my interests in politics, economics, finance, and entrepreneurship. To this end, I felt investment banking might be a great fit. And Guggenheim, with its people, reputation, and rapid growth trajectory stood out for me as the best place to begin a career in the space.
In college, I volunteered with several organizations that focused on promoting LGBTQ+ inclusion in sports and in pre-professional settings. During my junior year I helped a friend start Georgetown’s Athlete Ally chapter, an organization devoted to ending homophobia and transphobia in sports. Additionally, I was a campus ambassador for Out-for-Undergrad (O4U). O4U is an organization that connects LGBTQ+ students with opportunities across finance, consulting, and other industries. Being a part of O4U opened many doors for me, and I would not be here today had I not connected with the team at this event several years ago. Today, I wish to pay the favor forward and recently returned to the conference as a representative for Guggenheim.
