Guggenheim Securities Expands Healthcare Banking Practice with Senior Hires

Guggenheim Securities, the investment banking and capital markets division of Guggenheim Partners, announced today that Jeff Hoffman and Joseph Kohls will be joining the firm as Senior Managing Directors in the healthcare investment banking group.

NEW YORK – Guggenheim Securities, the investment banking and capital markets division of Guggenheim Partners, announced today that Jeff Hoffman and Joseph Kohls will be joining the firm as Senior Managing Directors in the healthcare investment banking group.

Guggenheim Securities' healthcare investment banking team advises a broad range of clients in all areas within healthcare. Most recently, Guggenheim Securities advised Pfizer Inc. on its $17-billion acquisition of Hospira, Inc.; Kindred Healthcare, Inc. on its $1.8-billion acquisition of Gentiva Health Services, Inc.; and Merck KGaA on its $17-billion acquisition of Sigma-Aldrich Corporation. Guggenheim Securities is also an active underwriter for healthcare companies in the capital markets.

Mr. Hoffman will be joining from J.P. Morgan, where he served as Head of West Coast Healthcare Investment Banking. Mr. Hoffman joined J.P. Morgan in 2006. Prior to that, he served as Co-Head of Healthcare at Piper Jaffray. Mr. Hoffman holds a BS in psychology and an MBA from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.

Mr. Kohls will be joining from Bank of America Merrill Lynch, where he served as Co-Head of Global Healthcare Investment Banking. Mr. Kohls joined BofA Merrill Lynch in 2004. Prior to that, he was a Managing Director at Lehman Brothers, where he helped build the bank's medical technology coverage effort. Mr. Kohls holds a BS in accounting from the University of Illinois and an MBA from the University of Chicago.
