A comprehensive publication exploring the science of longevity and how biological factors, lifestyle behaviors, and nutritional decisions can extend the healthspan of humans
Guggenheim Securities recently published "The Century Project, Volume I: Unlocking the Science of Longevity and Healthspan," a comprehensive series of reports that explores one of the most debated topics in modern medicine: aging.
The 210-page publication features a series of 29 reports, co-authored by Guggenheim Securities Head of Equities Stefano Natella and Guggenheim Securities Healthcare Equity Research Analyst Vamil Divan, M.D., that draw upon decades of published research into the influence of different biological factors, lifestyle behaviors, and nutritional decisions, on the longevity and healthspan of humans.
The publication reveals that Americans are living longer but also spending a growing share of their later years battling chronic illness, serving as the crux behind Natella and Divan’s argument that "aging" itself should be treated as a primary disease.
“We need to change the approach taken by the majority of medical research and medical practice over the past 50 years and reverse the massive mistake we have made,” Natella and Divan wrote. “We need to shift from focusing almost exclusively on the treatment of chronic diseases to treating aging, which is the major cause of chronic diseases.”
