Guggenheim Securities Hires Analyst Charles “Tony” Butler to Expand Healthcare Coverage

Guggenheim Securities, the investment banking and capital markets division of Guggenheim Partners, today announced the hiring of veteran equity analyst Charles “Tony” Butler as a managing director and senior equity analyst.

NEW YORK – Guggenheim Securities, the investment banking and capital markets division of Guggenheim Partners, today announced the hiring of veteran equity analyst Charles “Tony” Butler as a managing director and senior equity analyst. Mr. Butler will focus on the biotech/biopharma sector.

“Tony Butler brings our team a wealth of experience and a broad network of relationships in his industry,” said Dante Ferrarie, Senior Managing Director and Head of Equities at Guggenheim Securities. “His insights will further enhance the differentiated life sciences fundamental research that we offer our clients.”

Guggenheim’s healthcare research provides investors with a broad-based assessment of the industry and the policies that affect it. Mr. Butler joins Managing Directors Louise Chen and Bret Holley in providing fundamental equity research on the leading companies in life sciences, while Rick Weissenstein leads Guggenheim’s healthcare policy analysis team in Washington, D.C. Guggenheim’s healthcare policy offerings also include exclusive analysis by the Washington-based consulting firm Prevision Policy.

Mr. Butler was most recently a senior healthcare analyst at Lehman Brothers/Barclays for 18 years, where he was ranked for more than a decade on Institutional Investor’s “All-America Research Team.” Previously he was the head of healthcare research at Raymond James. Mr. Butler earned his MS and PhD degrees from the University of Tennessee Medical School and a BS from Baylor University, followed by a fellowship at Rockefeller University in New York City. He is based in Guggenheim Securities’ New York office.

Guggenheim Securities’ research capabilities have been expanding in other key sectors besides healthcare, including technology/media/telecom and financial services. For example, veteran financial services analyst Eric Wasserstrom will join Guggenheim Securities in mid-November as a managing director and senior analyst.
