Guggenheim Securities Hires Analyst Shar Pourreza to Extend Energy Research Franchise

Guggenheim Securities, the investment banking and capital markets division of Guggenheim Partners, today announced the hiring of Shar Pourreza as a Director and Senior Equity Analyst on the firm’s New York research team, covering Power & Utilities.

NEW YORK – Guggenheim Securities, the investment banking and capital markets division of Guggenheim Partners, today announced the hiring of Shar Pourreza as a Director and Senior Equity Analyst on the firm’s New York research team, covering Power & Utilities.

“Shar’s appointment marks an important extension of our existing energy franchise in Oil Services & Equipment, Exploration & Production, and Energy Policy analysis,” said Matthew Johnson, Senior Managing Director and Head of Equities at Guggenheim Securities. “Adding Shar to the team underscores our commitment to high quality energy research, guided by the principles of concentration and relevance built on a foundation of excellence and differentiation.”

Mr. Pourreza was most recently a Senior Analyst at Citigroup Global Markets, where he was head of the North American Power & Alternative Energy research team. At Citi, he was recognized by Institutional Investor magazine as the top “Rising Star” in his sector in the 2014 poll. Mr. Pourreza has also earned top-10 rankings in his sector in surveys by Greenwich Associates and stock-picking awards from StarMine. Prior to joining Citigroup in 2009, he held research roles at GE Asset Management, Calyon Securities, and Friedman Billings Ramsey.

Mr. Pourreza graduated with a BS in Business from the University of Scranton and is a CFA charterholder.
