NEW YORK – Guggenheim Securities, the investment banking and capital markets division of Guggenheim Partners, today announced the hiring of William Tanner as a Managing Director and senior biotech research analyst.
Mr. Tanner will start work at Guggenheim in May 2015 in the firm’s New York office.
“Bill brings a wealth of biotech experience, in both investment and academic research, to our experienced and highly acclaimed healthcare team,” said Matthew Johnson, Senior Managing Director and Head of Equities at Guggenheim Securities. “Bill will join a healthcare research team that includes, on the equities side, Tony Butler in biopharmaceuticals and Louise Chen in specialty pharmaceuticals, and, on the government policy side, Rick Weissenstein in healthcare policy analysis in Washington.”

Mr. Tanner has worked nearly 20 years as a biotech analyst, including senior analyst roles at Leerink Swann and SG Cowen.
He holds a Bachelor of Science degree and a PhD in Physiology, both from Texas A&M University, as well as an MBA from Washington University’s Olin School of Business. Before embarking on his investment research career, Mr. Tanner worked as a post-doctoral research fellow at Monsanto Co. and as an NIH National Research Service Award fellow at Washington University School of Medicine.
